Introduction - Family Search continues.

 Hello All:

Now that I'm newly retired, I can really get busy researching our family's (Popp-McClelland).  There are so many surnames involved, and our family were very prolific in producing many children, so the search just goes on and on and on.....

I'm looking for anyone with the family names of Popp (Chicago/Baltimore) and McClelland (Pennsylvania mostly), to communicate with and do our research on  line.

I've been researching our family since my 20's (now 60's), and until about a decade or so I was at a brick wall with the immediate family, until the internet exploded and bit by bit I keep finding more and more and Moore (another family name from PA) things about the family, as well as members who are scattered across the United States with so many different surnames, but all related to one side of the family or other.

The McClelland's tend to be English, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, German, with very little Norwegian, and Italian mixed in (mother's side - Simoncini).

I look forward to hearing from any distant cousins who are out there.  I have a really great composite on the Moore side of the family that Shirley Maynard and about 5-6 other contributors contributed to and I've found more information out as well as war histories during the Civil War on the initial Moore (Mohr)'s who came to the USA from Germany via Amsterdam to avoid Napoleon's draft. In newer posts, I'll post the surnames that sprout from each section of the family so you can see if you're part of our large tree.

I've also learned a great deal.. One of the best things you can do is save copies of original documents you've seen scanned, scan documents you have, and post them electronically or save in Google drive.

I also recommend starting an email address dedicated to just genealogy.  Mine is:  "fransroots58atgmail.com".

Of course you have to substitute the at for the @ sign.

Hope you find this blog and I'll be sending the link out to those I know are family members even if it's 4th/5th counsins from relationship.  We all have valuable things regarding the ancestor's to share.
